WESTWOOD ART MONTH AT THE BAMA WILL FEATURE MUSIC AND VISUAL ART

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host “Westwood Art Month at the Bama” April 20 – May 13, 2015 featuring the fine arts programs of Westwood Elementary. The event will include an exhibit of the students’ visual art and the 10th annual Musical Extravaganza in the theatre.

The Musical Extravaganza will feature the Westwood Singers and will take place on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. This event will feature the Westwood Singers II singing several selections, including highlights from “The Sound of Music.”  The ensemble will also present the musical “Summer Camp,” portraying the story of a group of campers as they learn to make new friends and find out that everyone has a little talent. Tickets, available at the door, will be $5 for adults and $1 for children.

Art work created by students in grades K – 5 will be displayed at the Bama’s Junior League Gallery April 20 – May 13.  All work is original and consists of drawing and painting. Awards for Best of Show, first, second, third and honorable mention will be given in grades K-2 and 3-5. Admission to the exhibit is free. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and 1 – 4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events. Enter the gallery through The Arts Council offices, located on the second floor of the PARA Building, during daytime hours.
