WESTWOOD ART MONTH AT THE BAMA WILL FEATURE MUSIC AND VISUAL ART

(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host “Westwood Art Month at the Bama” May 1 – 17, 2014 featuring the fine arts programs of Westwood Elementary. The event will include an exhibit of the students’ visual art and the 9th annual Musical Extravaganza in the theatre.

Art work created by students in grades K – 5 will be displayed at the Bama’s Junior League Gallery May 1 – 17.  All work is original and consists of drawing and painting.  Awards for Best of Show, first, second, third and honorable mention will be given in grades K-2 and 3-5.  Admission to the exhibit is free.  Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and 1 – 4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events.  Enter the gallery through the Arts Council offices, located on the second floor of the PARA Building, during daytime hours.

The 9th Annual Musical Extravaganza will feature the Westwood Singers in Rock and Roll Forever (How It All Began) and will take place on May 1 at 7 p.m. Celebrating the history of rock and roll, it features the music of Elvis, Little Richard, James Brown, The Beach Boys and others. The Westwood Singers II will also perform on this program and will sing a medley of Disney tunes and several other pieces.  Both ensembles are directed by Merry Livingston.
