PUBLIC ART PROJECT WILL BE UNVEILED AT HUDSON POOLE FINE JEWELERS JULY25

(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) The Tuscaloosa Public Art Initiative is continuing with its goal of bringing more public art to the community with the next project unveiling at Hudson Poole Fine Jewelers, 1111 Greensboro Ave., in downtown Tuscaloosa. A work by metalsmith Steve Davis was chosen by the committee as the winning entry. The public is invited to attend the ceremony which will take place on July 25 at 10 a.m. Representatives from the City of Tuscaloosa, the Mayor’s Office, and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama will be present.

Artistic metalsmith Steve Davis, owner of Sunheart Metalworks, has been a studio artist at the Kentuck Art Center for over 30 years. His work has been featured in exhibits in Tuscaloosa and Montgomery, and his public art is displayed in Northport, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Birmingham, Prattville, and London, England.

His awards include Patron Purchase Awards 1991-2018 at the Kentuck Festival of the Arts, the 1997 Druid Arts Award for Visual Artist, and the 1999 Viscount Tony Pandy Award in London. Davis holds the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from The Ohio State University.

Hudson Poole, represented by its owner, Gene Poole, received the Corporate Sponsor of the Year Award at the 2019 Druid Arts Awards. This is a biennial ceremony recognizing those that have contributed to the arts in Tuscaloosa County through education, creativity, volunteerism, and financial support.
