BAMA THEATRE’S ACOUSTIC NIGHT WILL FEATURE BIBLE STUDY WITH DON GALLARDO & STUART BOND

(Tuscaloosa) Bible Study with Don Gallardo & Stuart Bond will be the featured performers during Acoustic Night on April 16, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Presented by The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa, Acoustic Night features both established and upcoming musicians from around the country throughout the calendar year in the intimate setting of the Bama Theatre’s Greensboro Room. Cover charge is $5 with a full service bar available.

Bible Study is a collective of three songwriters. They lend their talents and different styles to each other’s songs, creating a unique cohesion of what they describe as “convoluted folk music.” Based in Tuscaloosa, the band recently traveled to Baton Rouge to record their first album, “Guilt Trip,” which will be released in May 2014. Members of the group are Tim Higgins (guitar, vocals), Kori Hensell (cornet, vocals) and Emily Dozier-Ezell (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, vocals).

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Don Gallardo unites introspective lyrics, southern charm and honey-warm vocals, producing a rootsy, personal sound that exists between the boundaries of Americana, Folk and 70’s classic performers. He has had songs in the highly popular television series, “The Vampire Diaries” & ABC’s “Nashville.” His work has also been featured in films such as “Jolene” & Jackass Presents “Bad Grandpa.” Gallardo has received high praise from Americana review sites in Europe and the U.S. such as No Depression, AltCountryForum.nl, Common Folk Music and The Nashville Scene, which calls him “country-rock with brains, charm and experimental impulses that are perfectly integrated into a familiar context.”  He is a songwriter who has spent the past 15 years crisscrossing the country, appearing with musicians such as Rosanne Cash, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Jim Lauderdale, Jason Ringenberg (of Jason & the Scorchers) and Yonder Mountain String Band. During the last decade, he has averaged over 150 shows a year. He also began touring the UK in 2011 and continues to do so today where he has received airplay and has performed live on BBC Radio.

After picking up the piano at age 7, Stuart Bond has gone on to learn seven different instruments in his musical career, which spans over 8 years playing live as a songwriter and frontman. Hailing from Tuscaloosa, AL, he relocated to Nashville, TN in 2013 and has joined forces with Don Gallardo & How Far West to continue his love for Americana and roots music, including flat picking his guitar and sliding on his lap steel.

Together, Don Gallardo & Stuart Bond create a comfortable musical atmosphere enticing audiences with well thought out original songs and great vocal melodies while using a variety of instruments such as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, banjo and lap steel. During this night of music, one can expect to hear numerous original songs as well as great covers by The Beatles, The Band, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Buffalo Springfield and more.
