 ARTIST KELLY SHANNON FEATURED AT THE DINAH WASHINGTON CULTURAL ARTS CENTER IN DECEMBER

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) The work of UA graduate student Kelly Shannon will be featured in her MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center during December. Titled “apo phenia”, the display will be open to the public Dec. 2, 2016-Jan. 6, 2017 in The Arts Council Gallery. An opening reception will be held on Dec. 2 from 5-8 p.m. during First Friday.

The show will be a combination of inks on paper that blur the line between drawing and painting, and one installation sculpture constructed of PVC pipe.

Kelly Shannon currently teaches Design, Drawing and Ceramics at Stillman College where she has also taught Sculpture and Art History. After graduating from the Alabama School of Fine Arts in 2005, the artist earned her BFA in Sculpture and BS in Mathematics from the University of Montevallo in 2010.

Exhibitions include her MA show “cresente” (Sella Granata Gallery, 2013), “reticulum” (Harrison Galleries , 2014), “in situ” (Montevallo, AL, 2010) as well as numerous group shows locally and around the country.
