As three celebrity judges eliminate the chefs one by one, tension mounts and rivalry begins to give way to charity, family, and forgiveness. DESCRIPTION: In 1971, arch-enemies Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis find themselves face-to-face on a committee formed to desegregate the schools of Durham, North Carolina. Seemingly a recipe for disaster, their mutual prejudices about one another are soon shattered as each begins to understand the plight of the other. Based on an inspiring true story, this drama shows how a new beginning can lead the worst of enemies to become the best of friends.

Founded to encourage creativity in local elementary students through visual art, Monster Makeover has been expanded to Monster Takeover with small scale bronze sculptures displayed throughout downtown Tuscaloosa. Based on student drawings of playful monsters and creatures and an artist’s interpretation, the sculptures are strategically placed for a scavenger hunt experience.

ANNUAL YOUNG PERSON’S CONCERTS
Join the TSO for our free Annual Young Person’s Concert featuring the Alabama premiere of Give Me Space composed by TSO Principal Tubist, Kenyon Wilson. Immerse your students in the sonic sounds of outer space and learn more about the inner workings of the orchestra during this interactive symphonic experience. The nationally recognized Kentuck Art Center is now offering an in-classroom field trip that is based around its 2020 February-March exhibition “Good Trouble: Civil Rights Past and Present.” This in-classroom experience includes multiple lesson plans, recorded artist talks, and supplies for two themed arts activities. Kentuck Art Center also offers the Artist in the Schools program to third grade students in Tuscaloosa City & County Schools on the Friday morning before the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in October. CHOM offers a wide variety of educational opportunities and programs for students, preschool through 8th grade. Hands-on exhibits, activities, and resources expand the school curriculum and enrich cultural and social education. New this year are weekly Phonics and S.T.E.A.M. programs for general visitors. Each visit is unique and participatory. All field trips are aligned with Alabama Department of Education Curriculum Standards. With teacher input, the museum staff will gear the visit toward specific class objectives. CHOM makes available a limited number of field trips for delivery to the classroom.
