WORK BY MADELYN CARR BONNETT WILL BE FEATURED AT THE DINAH WASHINGTON CULTURAL ART CENTER IN APRIL

(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will present “… buy Hyacinths to feed thy Soul,” an exhibit of fine art photography by Madelyn Carr Bonnett in The Arts Council Gallery at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. The exhibit will take place April 5-26, 2019 and will open with a reception on April 5 from 5-8 p.m. during the First Friday Art Walk.

Comprised of both color and black and white shots, the eclectic collection will be made up of 12-14 series of images, with each series comprised of 2-7 photos that are similar in some respect. All images were shot digitally over the past 14 years and are some of Bonnett’s favorites.

Bonnett has been a serious amateur nature and fine art photographer for over 30 years. She founded MadArtz Photo in 2004 and offers her original works as photo prints and canvases, note cards and wall calendars. The artist’s favorite subjects include flora, fauna, forests, national parks, skies and other natural wonders. Shooting exclusively with natural light, Bonnett often uses intentional camera movement (ICM) techniques to achieve photo-impressionist and abstract effects. Additional areas of subject matter also include representational, landscape, black & white and still life photography.

Bonnett has won local, state, regional, national and international awards for her images and continually adds new exhibitions to her schedule. Her images have placed in art/photo exhibits throughout Alabama and in Georgia. In 2005 she won Grand Prize in the Scenic Category of the Ritz/Wolf Camera International Photo Contest. Awards in 2018 included
2nd Place in the Coastal Life category of the Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest, Merit Award in the Arts Council of Tuscaloosa’s Double Exposure Juried Photography Exhibition, Best in Show-Photography in the 66th Annual Birmingham Rose Show and Merit Award in the Auburn Arts Association PHOTO XIX Juried Photo Exhibit.
