WESTWOOD ART MONTH AT THE BAMA

 

 (Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council will host Westwood Art Month at the Bama featuring the fine arts programs of Westwood Elementary of Coker, AL.  An annual occurrence, the May event will include an exhibit of the students’ visual art in the Junior League Gallery and the seventh annual Musical Extravaganza in the theatre.

Art work created by students in grades K through five will be displayed at the Bama’s Junior League Gallery from May 3 – 18.  All work is original and consists of drawing, painting and photography.  Awards for Best of Show, first, second, third and honorable mention will be given.  Admission to the exhibit is free.  Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. until noon and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events.  Enter the gallery through the Arts Council offices, located on the second floor of the PARA Building, during daytime hours.

The Seventh Annual Musical Extravaganza will feature the Westwood Singers in Broadway Beat and will take place on May 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  Doors open at 6:15 p.m.  The musical is directed and rehearsed by Jennifer Manning and accompanied by Merry Livingston.  Also performing will be the Westwood Singers II, directed by Merry Livingston.  Admission to the musical is $5 for adults/teens and $1 for children twelve and under.

The Arts Council is Westwood’s partner in the Tuscaloosa County Adopt-A-School program.
