(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council is presenting a special screening of The Last Ride – The Hank Williams Story at the Bama Theatre on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.  The Bama has been chosen as a theatre to sneak-preview this film before it will be in limited release in 12 cities in the U.S. in July and August.  This screening is not included in the scheduled Bama Art House lineup.

The film is a factual and emotional look at the last 3 days in the life of Hank Williams, who pioneered country music.  At the peak of Mr. Williams’ career, he was acknowledged to be the greatest singer-songwriter in American history, and performers such as Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen and Ray Charles have credited the artist for their inspiration and success.  Hank Williams' music is still being played around the world.

This film has won many festival awards and it will soon be released for showing in 12 major cities around the country. 20th Century Fox has recently purchased the electronic rights to this film.
