The music of Tchaikovsky combined with the sparkle, costumes and incredible talent of local dancers make this a production not to be missed. 1 hour in length. Founded to encourage creativity in local elementary students through visual art, Monster Makeover has been expanded to Monster Takeover with small scale bronze sculptures displayed throughout downtown Tuscaloosa. Based on student drawings of playful monsters and creatures and an artist’s interpretation, the sculptures are strategically placed for a scavenger hunt experience.

Embark on a magical journey of discovery with our Annual Young Person’s Concert! Specifically curated for 3rd-5th grade students, this unique event provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the enchanting world of the orchestra. With a mix of captivating music and interactive learning, we aim to ignite a spark of musical passion in young hearts. It’s more than just a concert, it’s the beginning of a lifelong love for music.

MOUNDVILLE NATIVE AMERICAN FESTIVAL

FEE: $10 for students and seniors, $12 for adults; Group rates of $8 per student available with preregistration; Bus drivers and 1 teacher per 15 students receives free admission LOCATION: Moundville Archaeological Park, 632 Mound State Parkway, Moundville Native American performers, demonstrators ,and living history teachers come to teach and celebrate Native American culture. Stomp dancing, social dancing, hoop dancing, and Native American music and storytelling will be performed! Learn about weapons and how to throw an atlatl. Learn about pottery firing, textiles, bead work, and many other crafts. Face painting and make-and-take crafts provided. Crafts and food vendors on site. The nationally recognized Kentuck Art Center is now offering field trips for public schools, private schools, home schools, church groups, or scouting groups for ages 2-16. Trips are customizable to age groups and interests, but are generally 1.5-2 hours in length and include a scavenger hunt, a tour of Kentuck’s campus and galleries, and a hands-on art activity. Potential art activities include process art, printmaking, clay, and more.

CHOM offers a wide variety of hands-on experiences and educational programs for children, families and students from public, private and home schools for newborns through 8th grades.  Interactive exhibits, activities, experiences and resources expand curriculum and enrich cultural and social education. An AMSTI affiliate, all exhibits and public programs are S.T.E.A.M. based. Field trips aligned with Alabama Department of Education Curriculum Standards. New exhibits include S.T.E.A.M. Station, virtual reality goggles, Bed of Nails. A limited number of field trips are available for delivery in the classroom.

Schools may visit the Art Garage. We can center a painting project around a schoolwide theme or a holiday. We will provide an instructor and all art supplies needed. We are limited on the number of children the Art Garage can hold at one time. Each project would last about 45 minutes.
