SECOND ANNUAL “MONSTER MAKEOVER” EXHIBIT WILL BENEFIT LOCAL SCHOOLS

(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council will host the second annual “Monster Makeover” exhibit at the Bama Theatre’s Greensboro Room on October 6 – 31, 2011.  The display will open with a reception on Thursday, October 6 from 6 – 9:00 p.m. during Art Night.  Sponsored by The Tuscaloosa News and American Shutterbug, all proceeds from the exhibit will be donated to local schools as part of the local tornado relief effort.    

In its second year, “Monster Makeover” is an exhibit consisting of drawings of creepy creatures created by students from a local school and the interpretation of their work by West Alabama visual artists.  This year’s exhibit will feature the work of first grade students at Holy Spirit Catholic School.  Books including the artwork will be available for sale priced at $18 each or two for $30.  Works included in the exhibit will also be up for auction.

Artists whose work will be included in the exhibit are Fred Fluker, Terry Waldrop, Shweta Gamble, Anthony Bratina, Robert Sutton, Michelle Lepianka Carter, Brian Hamner, John Matos, LaShonda Robinson, Claire Siepser, Darick Ritter, Andrew Jansen, Ruth O’Connor, Kevin Ledgewood, Sharron Rudowski, Steve Davis, Robert Boston, Geoffrey Reis, Ashley Reis, Tony Brock, Glen House, Rhys Greene, Kathleen Fetters, Don Malone, Brandy Bajalia, Kent Gidley, Megan Forehand, Karen Griffiths, Lorrie Lane, Linda Munoz, Jim Slowe, Clay Berish, Candice Griffin, Jean Ignatz, Stephanie Brumfield, Kim Gentry, Suzanne Gray, Stacy McCants, Anne Walker, Kerry Kennedy, Julie West and Tom Wegrzynowski.
