ROLLING STONE’S KEYBOARDIST CHUCK LEAVELL RETURNS TO THE BAMA THEATRE

(Tuscaloosa)  The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will feature a performance by Chuck Leavell and The Randall Bramblett Band on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bama Theatre. This concert is made possible with financial support from Pearson Law and Leigh Automotive with proceeds going to the Bama Theatre Restoration Fund.

Tickets are $47.50 floor (reserved) and $35 balcony (general admission) and are available for purchase at bamatheatre.org/buytickets. Tickets are also available for sale in person at The Arts Council office Monday-Friday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Chuck Leavell played a sold-out concert at the Bama Theatre almost four years ago.  Since then, he has performed on both of John Mayer’s newest CDs, acted in a Billy Bob Thornton movie in a scene with Robert Duvall, recorded and released a tribute CD to the pioneers of blues piano, written and published Growing a Better America about saving our environment, headlined the Blue’s Stage at New Orleans Jazz Fest, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy for his years with the Allman Brothers Band and played 29 tour venues in three countries with the Rolling Stones.  In addition, he and his wife of 32 years, Rose Lane, manage a 2500 acre pine plantation near Macon, GA. Born in Birmingham, Leavell and his family lived briefly in Montgomery before locating to Tuscaloosa, the city he calls home.  

In addition to those already mentioned, he has recorded or toured with Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Train, The Black Crows, Lee Ann Womack, Montgomery-Gentry and a “Who’s Who” of rock, country, jazz and Popular Music stars.  He is bringing special guest The Randall Bramblett Band.

Randall Bramblett is a Georgia native and a highly respected singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  He has a long history of playing with some of the greats of rock and blues including Steve Winwood and Traffic, Robbie Robertson and Bonnie Raitt.  He recently released to critical acclaim his new CD titled The Bright Spots.  His song “Used to Rule the World” is not only on this CD, but it is covered on the lead track of Bonnie Raitt’s new release.
