PHOTOGRAPHY BY LINDSAY MADISON WILL BE DISPLAYED AT THE JUNIOR LEAGUE GALLERY

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host an exhibit of work by photographer Lindsay Madison at the Bama Theatre’s Junior League Gallery June 16-Aug. 31, 2017. Titled “Nothing Adventured, Nothing Learned,” the display will feature her nature themed images. A reception honoring the artist will take place on June 25 from 2-4 p.m. at the gallery.

Madison has been a resident of Northport/Tuscaloosa since the age of four and is a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School and The University of Alabama with a degree in Education. She has passion for teaching Environmental Science and spent three years at the McDowell Environmental Center in that capacity. While traveling to Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, she photographed the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, the Bandera Volcano Crater, Havasu Falls, Montezuma Castle and many more significant landscapes in the region. Also represented in her work are the Smoky Mountains, Dauphin Island and surrounding Alabama wetlands, the Sipsey Wilderness and Bankhead National Forest area.

Madison describes herself as a “Nature Photographer” as she prefers to photograph things that occur naturally, instead of man-made structures. Old buildings that have been reclaimed by nature or structures that have historical significance to Alabama do occasionally appear in her work. Otherwise, she attempts to capture animals, plant life, landscapes, waterfalls, sunsets, beaches and insects in their natural state without manipulation.

The Junior League Gallery is open weekdays 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events. Enter the gallery through the PARA building entrance, located to the left of the theatre, during weekday hours.

The Bama Theatre is located at 600 Greensboro Avenue in Downtown Tuscaloosa.
