HOMEGROWN ALABAMA PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT PRESENTED AT THE BAMA THEATRE
(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host an exhibit of photographs at the Bama Theatre’s Greensboro Room from August 19 through September 13. Titled “On the Farm,” the display is presented by Homegrown Alabama. A public reception honoring the artists will be held on September 6 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The subject matter included in the exhibit will focus on food and farms including shots of the Homegrown Alabama farmers’ market, farms near and far and personal experiences of food with friends and family. Photographers are primarily UA students and alumni including Camden Adrian, Allie Hulcher, Andrea Mabry and David A. Smith. The show aims to share moments made special by food, glimpses of life on the farm, the strength of community at farmers’ markets and the simple beauty of homegrown produce.
Homegrown Alabama is a student-led group at The University of Alabama that seeks to educate students about the value of local produce as well as foster partnerships between local farmers and the university.
The Bama Theatre is located at 600 Greensboro Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 12 noon and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Galleries are also open during Bama Theatre events. Enter the galleries through The Arts Council offices, located on the second floor of the PARA Building, during daytime hours.
