EXHIBIT FEATURING THE WORK OF TINA DUBOSE AT THE BAMA THEATRE
(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council is hosting an exhibit of photography by local artist Tina DuBose. On display at the Bama Theatre’s Greensboro Room through July 31, 2012, the exhibit consists of subject matter from wildlife and landscapes to children’s portraits.
An opening reception will take place at the Greensboro Room on Sunday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m.
“Loving animals, nature and people like I do, it’s easy to find so much beauty in God’s creation,” says photographer Tina DuBose, currently featured in the Bama’s Greensboro Room. Animals have played a significant role in all her career paths, influencing what would become a major mode of artistic expression later in her life. DuBose was employed five years at the Palm Beach Zoo while living in West Palm Beach, Florida. She relocated to Tuscaloosa when her mother opened a pet store in Northport and remained there for nine years before taking a position at Tidmore Veterinary Hospital. After twelve years at TVH, DuBose decided to pursue her love of photography fulltime.
Her mother, Jean Ignatz, is a well-known artist with talent in multiple media such as oil painting, sculpting, pastels and basket weaving. Her mother’s work has been a great influence on her daughter. “I guess that is where I get my love to express myself through photography,” says Tina. DuBose has an eye for the abstract in nature and will wait endlessly for God’s creatures to strike the right pose or give her the composition she wants before she captures the shot.
The artist does not limit herself to one subject. She photographs wildlife, landscapes, pets, children and her family. She hopes her love of capturing people through the lens could lead to new opportunities, such as photographing weddings. A native of Tuscaloosa County, DuBose has two children and four grandchildren and is married to Danny DuBose.
Tina DuBose is represented locally at the Riverport Gallery in downtown Northport and at Gallery on the Boulevard in downtown Tuscaloosa.
Located at 600 Greensboro Avenue in Tuscaloosa, the galleries at the Bama Theatre are open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events. Enter the gallery through the PARA Building, located adjacent to the theatre, during daytime hours.
