COMMUNITY ARTS CONVERSATIONS AND BLACK HISTORY MONTH EXHIBIT FEATURED ON FEBRUARY FIRST FRIDAY
(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host Community Arts Conversations and the second annual exhibit in recognition of Black History Month at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. Taking place on First Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, the exhibit reception will be open from 5-8 p.m. and Community Arts Conversations will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Free and open to the public, numerous groups from Tuscaloosa County will be featured in an expo style presentation at tables during Community Arts Conversations from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall. Established by The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa in 2012, the goal of the event is to introduce local cultural organizations to the public and provide information about the groups and their staff on a personal level. Ticket giveaways for upcoming events and other promotional initiatives will also take place.
Also on First Friday, the opening of a juried exhibit in recognition of Black History Month will take place from 5-8 p.m. in The Arts Council Gallery. Artists were invited to submit up to three works of any theme or subject matter for judging. Only original two- and three-dimensional works by artists living in Bibb, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Perry, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Walker Counties were eligible. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m. The exhibit will continue through Feb. 28, 2020.
