ARTS COUNCIL LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE AND INTRODUCES NEW LOGOS

(Tuscaloosa)  The Arts Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new website and the introduction of new logos for the organization, the Bama Theatre and the upcoming Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center.  Tuscaloosa’s Mark Barry, owner and Creative Director of Subata Corporation, designed the site and new branding materials, and Sawaya Consulting of Salt Lake City was utilized for the development of the site.

Due to new programming, the constant expansion of those projects already in place and the evolution of the Cultural Arts Center, The Arts Council made the decision to develop a new site in August 2010.  The design and implementation of a new branding package, including logos and color schemes, was included in the project.  A Request for Proposal was released in November 2010 and was distributed locally and regionally.  Responses were received from within and outside the U.S.  The committee assigned to select the designer used standards including budget, design, experience and location to determine the winning bid.  Subata’s submission exceeded those standards in every respect.

A “soft launch” of the new site took place on Monday, June 27, 2011.  The site, which will be represented by the sametuscarts.org URL, contains three main navigational tabs, one each for The Arts Council, the Bama Theatre and the Cultural Arts Center.  New features not present on the former site include searchable calendars listing arts events at the Bama Theatre and in the community, a forum for Arts Council Member Organizations for the exchange of ideas and a page listing Art Night galleries and their respective maps.  The calendars are designed for arts groups to add and edit information on their own.  A downloadable press packet is also available complete with the new logos, appropriate fonts and colors.

The organization’s social media will be coordinated with the new site.  The Facebook page is now located atwww.facebook.com/TheArtsCouncil.BamaTheatre.CAC.  Those who wish to follow the group can also click on the Facebook “like” icon at the top of the new site’s home page.

“Both the staff and our Board of Directors are extremely pleased with the result of many months of hard work.  The Arts Council’s new site reflects the expansion of quality programming the organization pursues on a regular basis.  It is our goal that local citizens and organizations alike will take advantage of what we consider to be an important resource for the West Alabama arts community,” said Sandra Wolfe, Executive Director of The Arts Council.
