ARTS COUNCIL/BAMA THEATRE REVERSES DECISION IN FILM SCREENING

(Tuscaloosa) The Arts Council and Bama Theatre have reversed the decision to cancel the screening of Turn Me On, Dammit! on July 17, 2012.  The film was pulled from the Bama Art House series lineup earlier in the week.  Sponsored by The Left Hand Soap Company as originally scheduled, additional support will be received from WellThat’sCool.com.

The Arts Council came to this decision after receiving feedback from community members in support of the film as well as consulting with the City of Tuscaloosa.  The City emphasized that future funding for the organization is not linked with programming decisions.  Public funds will not be directed toward the screening of the film, but will be presented entirely with sponsor dollars.

The film contains mature content, and although it is a foreign film and not rated, it will be treated as an “R” rated movie at the Bama Theatre box office.  Children under 17 will require an accompanying parent or adult guardian.

The Arts Council values its relationship with the City of Tuscaloosa and appreciates the diversity of opinions in the West Alabama community.
