ACOUSTIC NIGHT WILL FEATURE SCOTT MILLER

(Tuscaloosa) Feisty, funny singer and guitar-slinger Scott Millerbrings his acclaimed solo performance to the Bama Theatre’s Acoustic Night on Friday, June 14 at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Miller’s songs are filled with rural imagery and classic storytelling. No Depression described his work as “no-nonsense rootsy rock & roll, sometimes quieter and more reflective acoustic balladry, and almost always a way with words that few other Americana songwriters can match.”

Raised on a cattle farm in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Miller moved to Knoxville in 1990, where four years of weekly performances at a local club built a loyal legion of fans before he began touring regionally.

Miller then joined the the roots-rock unit, the V-Roys, the first band signed to E-Squared, an indie label founded by the late Jack Emerson and Steve Earle. He then signed with Sugar Hill, for which he recorded three studio albums and a live record with his widely acclaimed band, the Commonwealth.

Now a veteran artist entering the fiercely individualistic phase of his career, Miller founded his own F.A.Y. record label and has been touring extensively. Following the performance at the Bama Theatre, Miller will appear with the Avett Brothers in Durham, North Carolina. His schedule includes work alongside Rayna Gellert (Uncle Earl), and Paul Thorn and Miller will be opening several shows for folk superstar Patty Griffin this summer.
