ACOUSTIC NIGHT WILL FEATURE ERIC TAYLOR IN JANUARY

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) Singer-songwriter Eric Taylor will be the featured artist in a performance on Acoustic Night on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bama Theatre. Presented by The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa, the project features both solo and ensemble performances of a wide range of acoustic music throughout the calendar year in the intimate setting of the theatre’s Greensboro Room. Cover charge is $15 with a full service bar available.

Eric Taylor is a master storyteller and has been one of the finest southern songwriters for the last four decades. Influencing such well-known artists as Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett (both of whom have covered several of his songs) and Steve Earle, Taylor tours extensively throughout North America and Europe. He has appeared on “Austin City Limits”, “Late Night With David Letterman”, NPR’s “Morning Edition” and “Mountain Stage” and BBC Radio.

A mesmerizing performer, Taylor has toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe, playing notable venues such as Club Passim, The Bottom Line, Caffe Lena, The Bluebird Cafe, Eddie’s Attic, The Ark, CSPS, Freight & Salvage, The Green Note (London), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Theatre Kikker (Utrecht), The Real Music Club (Belfast), Hotel du Nord (Paris), Grey’s Pub (Brighton) and The Bein Inn (Perth). Festival appearances include Kerrville, Newport Folk Festival, Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Boston Folk Festival, Glasgow Americana Festival (Scotland), Take Root (The Netherlands) and Roots of Heaven Festival (The Netherlands).

He has taught at the Kerrville Song School and has conducted songwriting workshops at the Fulston Manor Performing Arts Centre (Sittingbourne, England), CARAD (Rhayader, Wales), Puget’s Sound Productions (Washington) and the Plowshares Coffeehouse (Pennsylvania).
