2019 WEST ALABAMA JURIED SHOW WINNERS ANNOUNCED
(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) The winners of The Arts Council’s 34th Juried Show for West Alabama artists have been selected. The exhibit will be on display in The Arts Council Gallery at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center through Dec. 20, 2019 and also January 2-10, 2020.
The show was open to visual artists 18 and older residing in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Perry, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties. The winners were chosen by Ted Metz, Professor Emeritus, The University of Montevallo.
Winners:
Howard & Michael Goodson and Richard Zoellner Best of Show Award – $750
Ming Su of Northport for “Ms. Woo 2”
Gail Skidmore Memorial Award of Excellence – $300 Contributed by The Arts Council
Nanette Glaus of Coker for “The Tuscaloosa State Capitol Building”
Three Cash Awards – $100 each Contributed by The Arts Council
Rebecca Godfrey of Tuscaloosa for “Fully Aware I”
Lorrie Lane of Tuscaloosa for “Wildness”
Liza Butts of Birmingham for “Chameleon Rocks”
Gallery hours are weekdays from 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The venue is open noon-8 p.m. on First Fridays.
Established in 1985, the West Alabama Juried Show represents The Arts Council’s mission to promote the arts in Tuscaloosa County and specifically the creative efforts of local and regional visual artists.
