(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) Judging is complete and the winners selected in the 14th Annual Double Exposure Juried Photography competition for Alabama photographers. Double Exposure is the only statewide photography competition in Alabama and is sponsored by The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa.

Artists were allowed to enter up to three works in either Adult or Junior categories, and any photographic medium was accepted. Elliot Knight, Visual Arts Program Manager for the Alabama State Council on the Arts, served as judge for the Adult Division. Chip Cooper, Artist in Residence at The University of Alabama Honors College, served as judge for the Junior Division.  

Adult Division:
$500 Purchase Award: "Tempus Fugit"-Warren Simons, Montgomery
$250 Awards of Excellence:
"Rust Bubbles" by Jim Morris, Tuscaloosa
"Bruised" by Martin Naugher, Northport
"The Colored Girl" by Joe'l Bethany Brock, Birmingham
"Fern Swirl" by Julia Washburn, Pelham

Junior Division:
$250 Best of Show: "Avatar" by Mya Averett, Pike Road
$125 Awards of Excellence:
"Surrounded by Death" by Jack Boucard, Cecil
"You Can Do Anything" by William Register, Birmingham
"This Old Bus" by Aaliyah Sims, Wetumpka
"Shattered Life" by Nathan Swanson, Wetumpka

The Junior Division exhibit is currently on display at the Bama Theatre’s Junior League Gallery and will end with a closing reception and awards ceremony on Feb. 12, 2017 from 2-3 p.m. The Junior League Gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events.  Enter through the PARA Building, located adjacent to the theatre, during daytime hours.

The Adult Division exhibit is currently on display at the The Arts Council Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 3 from 5-8 p.m. during First Friday with the exhibit closing on Feb. 24. The Arts Council Gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
