2014 WEST ALABAMA JURIED SHOW AT THE BAMA THEATRE

 

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will be sponsoring its 30th Annual Juried Show for West Alabama artists Nov. 10 through Dec. 15, 2014 at the Bama Theatre Galleries. A closing reception honoring the winners will be held on Dec. 15 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the theatre. The public is invited to attend.

One purchase award of $750, one cash award of $300 and three Awards of Excellence of $100 each will be presented. The purchase award entry will be added to the permanent collection.

Visual artists 18 and older residing in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Perry, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties will be eligible. A $35 entry fee entitles participants to submit up to three works for judging. Only original two- and three-dimensional works will be accepted. Entries must have been executed within the past two years and not shown in any previous West Alabama Juried Show, Double Exposure or other exhibits at a Bama Theatre gallery. All two-dimensional pieces accepted for the show must be ready for hanging and matted, framed and under glass if appropriate. No work should be submitted that has been executed in a class or workshop. Maximum size is 5 1/2 feet x 5 1/2 feet, and maximum weight is 50 pounds for all entries.

Works must be brought to The Arts Council office on the 2nd floor of the PARA Building adjacent to the Bama Theatre, downtown Tuscaloosa, from Oct. 27 – 31 during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – noon and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The entry deadline is Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Works accepted for the exhibit must remain through Dec. 15th.
