2014 DOUBLE EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

(Tuscaloosa) TheArts Council of Tuscaloosa is pleased to announce the winners (listed below) of the annual Double Exposure Juried Photography competition.  Open to photographers from throughout the state of Alabama, the competition is now in its 11th year. 

Artists were allowed to enter up to five works in either Adult or Junior categories, and any photographic media was accepted.  38 pieces were chosen out of 95 entries in the Adult Division and 65 selected out of 154 entries in the Junior Division.  The judge for both rounds was Elliot Knight, Visual Arts Program Manager for the Alabama State Council on the Arts, Montgomery.

Adult Division awards were contributed by Harrison Galleries of Tuscaloosa.

Adult Division:

$500 Purchase Award for Best of Show: Margaret Gluhman, Auburn, for "Hwy. #41"

$250 Cash Award: Kay Alkire Brummal, Montgomery, for "Discarded Dreams"

$250 Cash Award: William Fenn, Montgomery, for "Look"

$250 Cash Award: Heather Orlando, Birmingham, for "Dystopia: The Flora Utopia #10"

$250 Cash Award: Hannah Craft, Lake View, for "Gaze"

 

Junior Division:

$250 for Best of Show: Ben Jackson, Birmingham, for "A Study in Lines and Eyes"

$125 Cash Award: Sullivan Tankersley, Montgomery, for "Heavy Soul"

$125 Cash Award: Camille Goulet, Montgomery, for "The Magpie"

$125 Cash Award: Clint Isom, Birmingham, for "Rocking Horse Winner"

$125 Cash Award: Amy Carson Dennis, Montgomery, for "City Reflections"

The exhibit is currently on display at the Bama Theatre’s Junior League Gallery and Greensboro Room and will end on Feb. 14.  A reception and awards presentation will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 2 - 3 p.m. at the theatre.

The galleries are open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events.  Enter through the PARA Building, located adjacent to the theatre, during daytime hours.
