2015 DOUBLE EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) TheArts Council of Tuscaloosa is pleased to announce the winners (listed below) of the 2015 Double Exposure Juried Photography competition.  Open to photographers from the state of Alabama only, the annual event is now in its 12th year. 

Artists were allowed to enter up to five works in either Adult or Junior categories, and any photographic media was accepted.  83 pieces were chosen out of 320 entries. 

Alice Wilson, instructor of photography at Shelton State Community College and the online division of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, judged both the preliminary and final portions of the competition.

Adult Division awards were contributed by Harrison Galleries of Tuscaloosa.

Adult Division                                   
$500 Purchase Award - Mary M. Meares – Northport – “Rain”

$250 Cash Award - Lynn Schmidt - Dothan – “Key to My Heart”
$250 Cash Award - Ken Johnson - Birmingham – “Forgotten Plymouth”
$250 Cash Award - Tim Nunnally -  Tuscaloosa – “Distant and Diagonal”
$250 Cash Award - Julia Whitten – Tuscaloosa – “don Quixote”

Junior Division                                 
$250 Best of Show - Kathryn Bell - Pike Road – “Behind the Door”
$125 Cash Award - Rachel Wright – Birmingham – “Ghost of a Soldier”
$125 Cash Award - Emily Muller – Birmingham – “Frozen Leaf”
$125 Cash Award - Evan Poole – Birmingham – “Birmingham Alabama 1940s”
$125 Cash Award - Amanda Roussel – Birmingham – “Innocent Drifter”

The exhibit is currently on display at the Bama Theatre’s Junior League Gallery and Greensboro Room and will end with a closing reception and awards ceremony on Feb. 15, 2015 from 1 - 2 p.m.

The galleries are open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and also during Bama Theatre events.  Enter through the PARA Building, located adjacent to the theatre, during daytime hours.

The Bama Theatre is located at 600 Greensboro Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa.
